ABOUT THE TRIPLE CROWN:
There are three "diamond" events on the West Coast 2017 calendar. These three events will make up the Triple Crown to determine the 2017 Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear National Champions. The first one takes place in July at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. In September, the Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear is a featured series during the GoPro Grand Prix alongside IndyCar at Sonoma. July 28th - 30th - Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
The opening races of the Triple Crown take place during the SCCA San Francisco region's summer visit to the historic race facility. This track is a favorite with the competitors due to the incredible racing history, the breathtaking location, and of course the CORKSCREW. Visitors from all around the world visit the destination to sample its fine wines, incredible restaurants, golf courses and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Many of the series veterans learned the craft at Mazda Raceway, and it is of course the spiritual home of every Mazda powered racing car.taking place at the facility and in the community during the holiday weekend.
September 14th - 16th - Sonoma GoPro Grand Prix with IndyCar
The Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear is a featured series during the GoPro Grand Prix alongside IndyCar at Sonoma. The 13th annual Verizon IndyCar Series event at Sonoma Raceway will serve as the season finale for the IndyCar 2017 schedule, marking the third time the wine country road course has concluded a major open-wheel series season. This will mark the seventh time the FCC will be paired with the Verizon IndyCar® Series in the Sonoma Valley. Past events have had 33-35 cars on the grid, making this one of the largest open-wheel races in the country.
October 28th - 29th - Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships at Auto Club Speedway
Southern California's largest racing facility hosts three major events on this weekend. The Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships will take place on the 17 turn sportscar course, while the NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA competitors race on the quarter-mile, and the annual BUG-IN featuring 1/4 mile drags, car show, swap meet and more! Thousands of spectators, and participants are expected to enjoy all of the diverse L.A. car culture over the weekend.
